Back to Class

  • Nov. 29th, 2009 at 2:36 PM
Kathleen was so annoyed at my absence from class, almost petulantly concerned with my success. It was cute. She apologized for razzing me about it after she found out what I'd been through just recently but I told her that I did not mind as I wanted to get back to normal. Class was fine and yesterday was the end of the lesson on Shakespeare's Richard II which was good. Henry IV isnt looking good at all. It reads like Johnny Cash sang it when he was on drugs. After class was a trip to Dalhousie Art Centre to see a play based on Dante's Inferno which was pretty good. Angus bought us pizza.

There are two kinds of plants short-day plants and long-day plants. Short day plants need to have a long night and because of this they flower during early spring/fall.
Long-day plants need short night periods and because of this they flower in the summer.

New TNM staging for skin melanoma

  • Nov. 29th, 2009 at 11:01 AM

The latest version of the AJCC TNM staging system for cutaneous melanoma has been released (based on 30,946 cases). The main changes are the following: 1) mitotic rate (added); 2) Clark level (removed). The main limit is that, once again, no molecular biomarker has been implemented.

As much as I hate that i cant help myself right now, i look forward to never sitting alone for the next month or so.

Dear Frank,

Sunday I was with my boyfriend (we are both young Christians). I grabbed his laptop to go to the postsecret website. As I typed in the postsecret address the computer filled in the url with a pornography website.

I used my boyfriend's laptop again to look up postsecret and the computer filled in the url with recently visited sites about pre and post nuptial agreements.

In my attempts to read other people's secrets, I discovered his.

To the person who thinks couple-dom is a big secret. It isn't. Too scared to be alone, I was in a couple in some way for 16 years and I always felt like I was faking. I was jealous of my single friends who had the strength not to settle like I did.

California Diaries #1 Dawn

  • Nov. 28th, 2009 at 9:41 PM
So I'm sitting here, staring at the tags in this group, and I can't believe my eyes. No one has touched California Diaries yet? Surely, my eyes must be deceiving me. Maybe no one else ever read them (I never did, until last month when I found the entire series at Friends of the Library for a buck a piece) and no one cares to snark them. Maybe they aren't snark worthy. Well, there's only one way to find out, right? I guess I have to read one.....

Dibbly Fresh is all screwy, so thanks to Goodreads for the image.

Bitchface Dawn )
EDIT: OP's post screencapped for your viewing pleasure

[info]everythingtold goes out for a meal at a restaurant. As soon as the waitress appears, she gives the waitress her demands -- bring the drink, meal, to-go boxes, and check at the same time and don't come back until then -- because "I really go out of my way to make life as easy as possible for people in customer service".

When the waitress gets annoyed with her, she points out that she's not being annoying. "I turned to the couple at the table next to me and asked if I was bothering them. They shook their heads 'no'. I asked the family at the table on the other side and asked the same thing."

Then, there's a lengthy diatribe about her theory on tipping: "servers get $3-something an hour and minimum wage is $7:30 [sic] per hour. Generally speaking, if I am going to spend an hour in a restaurant, I will be tipping $4."

Finally, after paying her check, the OP gets up for a cigarette break, leaving her music player & book behind. After her cigarette break, she's SHOCKED to discover her table has been bused!

Commentors repeatedly point out that requesting the waitress only visit your table twice -- once to take your order and once to drop everything from drink to bill off -- is very inconvenient for waitstaff, but OP doesn't care. "I guess a lot of people in here hate me for trying to make life easy, lol."

"I actually wasn't trying to come off as SpecialSnowflake/EntitlementBitch at all - just the opposite."

"I cn't [SIC] believe that many people think it's annoying to make sure server doesn't have to worry about me very much."

Is a part of the SOLUTION not the problem , unlike most people in this area.

I work hard , love greatly and though I have been through alot in my life , I am a glass is half full kind of girl.

So glad I am not heartless.

Has been kicking-ass - not really like in the violent premise-since birth and it is going to stay that way;)

It's good to be alive!

Cabling a Hauppauge!

HELP!
THANKS!

Questions, questions, questions

  • Nov. 28th, 2009 at 12:50 AM
Hello, well, I would like to know more about this 'pro-white' thing. I personally, view all people as equals in this world- all created by God, all is good, blahblahblah. But, I kind of do get the whole part that white people do not get to show their pride like other races; I am from Las Vegas, and while there is alot of pro-black, it seems like we get the rough side of the deal. White people seem to all be seemed as racist, while black people seem to not be considered racist at all. I don't know if that makes sense, but whatever. I'm horribly young. I try to see both sides of the picture; so if someone could answer any of them, thanks.

>> Why are most of the groups that you have listed as anti-white are races, while only one is a religion? Aren't the Jewish also white? Why are they considered bad in your eyes?

>> Do you think having a white only community is possible in this day and age? Fifty years ago we basically had one; if this idea was so good, why didn't it stay that way?

>> Is there a specific belief you follow? I can tell you aren't Jewish, and you seem Christian, but is there a specific part of the church? Like, Lutheran or Catholic?

>> Are you guys anti-gay? What are your opinions on homosexuality? Or does that not fit into the picture whatsoever?

Thanks- sorry if I seem offensive to your cause, but I grew up with my virtues and ways like you most likely did. I'm curious, I'll have to admit.

Got my reality TV essay back today- 77%. Seems to be about my average. I still think it was good, and really, one comment the marker made proved my point: I talked about how Paris Hilton was a perfect example of reality TV elevating someone to star status without having any discernable talent. The comment? "But she's not your typical reality TV star" ... Um, except that she was NOBODY before The Simple Life? Sure, she was on the society pages, but no one knew who she was. So the fact that the prof. didn't KNOW that just shows how easy it is to GET FAMOUS FROM REALITY TV. I should just go in there with proof that she wasn't famous before TSL, slap it on the bitch's desk and say "HA! I PROVED IT, I'M RIGHT, GIVE ME AN A! I WIN!!"

Grrr... OK, I'm over it now. Just bugs me.

One other thing I'm thinking of to help me out school-wise. OK, so I was watching Oprah the other day, and she had this cheer squad on, called the Sparkles. They work with disabled kids between the ages of 8-15, and it looks like a lot of fun. I need to get some sort of working-with-kids volunteer experience under my belt to get in to the teaching program at school, so I was looking for something anyhow.

So, yeah- I'm e-mailing the cheer leading dept. at the University to see if they'd be interested in working with me to develop it. If anyone has any ideas/suggestions about how best to go about it, I'm more than willing to discuss planning & strategy.

Hope all you 'Mericans are enjoying your turkey day leftovers!

Prized for their impressive antlers, red deer have been caught in the hunters' sights for generations. But a deer's antlers are much more than decorative. They are lethal weapons that stags crash together when duelling.
